Maternity cap

Maternity hats were worn by fathers in the first days after the birth of their child. This white one in point de Marseille is a beautiful example. The father puts 'his maternity hat [...] on the head and stirs with the cane stick in the sugared wine, which is enjoyed with 'sweets' [...]', celebrating the arrival of new life.
